The PCB, or printed circuit board, is the brain of every modern washing machine. It reads the buttons, controls the motor, opens the valves and runs every programme. In Harare, control boards fail more often than they should because of voltage surges when power returns after load shedding.
A new board can be one of the most expensive washing machine parts. Where possible, we repair the existing board at component level, replacing burnt resistors, relays and power supply parts, which often costs much less than a replacement.
Signs you need this repair
- The display is dead, flickers or shows random characters
- Buttons do not respond or the machine beeps without starting
- The machine stopped working right after a power cut or surge
- Error codes that come and go, or appear on every programme
- The machine runs the wrong programme or stops mid-cycle
What our pcb & control board repairs service includes
- Testing to confirm the board is actually at fault
- Visual and electrical inspection for burnt or failed components
- Component-level repair of relays, resistors and power supplies
- Board replacement where repair is not possible or not economical
- Display and button panel repairs
- Advice on surge protection to prevent repeat damage

Repair or replace the board?
Many technicians replace the board as a first step. We test first, because the board is often blamed for faults caused by a door lock, sensor or wiring loom. If the board is faulty, we assess whether it can be repaired. Typical repairable faults include burnt power supply components, failed relays and dry solder joints.
Some boards are sealed in resin or have damage that cannot be repaired reliably. In that case we source a replacement board for your exact model and programme it where required.
Protecting your board from surges
The simplest protection is to switch the machine off at the wall during load shedding and wait a few minutes after power returns before switching on. A good quality surge protector or voltage protector plug adds another layer of protection. Read our guide on protecting appliances during load shedding for practical tips.

PCB & Control Board Repairs: frequently asked questions
Can a burnt washing machine board be repaired?
Often, yes. If the damage is limited to power supply components, relays or tracks, the board can usually be repaired. If the main processor is damaged, a replacement board is needed.
How long does a board repair take?
Simple repairs can be done the same day. Component-level repairs and board sourcing can take a few days depending on parts availability. We will give you a timeframe with your quote.
